Who We are

Werkix was founded to address the lack of real opportunities for tech talent in Malawi. Our mission is to bridge the gap between local African tech talent and the rest of the world, creating real opportunities for tech graduates in. We are passionate about helping businesses avoid the often tedious task of managing remote talent by employing a rigorous screening process to shortlist the best software developers, cyber security experts, network engineers, and web developers.

Our new hires are incubated in our central office in Blantyre, Malawi, Africa, but we also supervise and onboard hires in Belgrade, London, New York, and Johannesburg. Our goal is to provide hands-off remote talent solutions to companies in need of top-tier tech talent.

Our Story

Werkix was founded in response to a lack of real opportunities for tech talent in Malawi.

In a market dominated by talent from the Far East and with Malawi’s small economy, we observed that hundreds of tech graduates were employed in roles unrelated to their degrees. Computer scientists found themselves in sales jobs, for example, while others tried their hand as entrepreneurs.

Exacerbating this problem was a lack of awareness of the remote job market. Graduates were not aware of its potential and were not trained to take advantage of it in any case.

We also discovered that the best techies who did have jobs were often on the lookout for a side hustle to boost their income. They desired the freedom of a remote position to work after hours, but the framework that would support this arrangement did not exist.

Sensing an opportunity to address a gap in the market, we decided to make local African tech talent available to the rest of the world. 

This would have obvious benefits for graduates and those who wanted to earn extra income, but it would also benefit companies in search of a hands-off remote talent solution.

Today, Werkix helps businesses avoid the often tedious task of managing remote talent. We employ a rigorous screening process to shortlist the best software developers, cyber security experts, network engineers, and web developers.

Werkix also takes your data security seriously, which means we do not have access to the work your hires perform. While Werkix takes care of everything else, note that hires work exclusively for you. They use your tools, follow your processes, and have the same roles or responsibilities as internal team members.
